قال تعالى
“وَرَتِّلِ الْقُرْآنَ تَرْتِيلً”
” And recite the Qur’an with measured recitation “.
وَعَنْ أَنَسٍ قَالَ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ لِأُبَيِّ بْنِ كَعْبٍ: «إِنَّ اللَّهَ أَمَرَنِي أَنْ أَقْرَأَ عَلَيْكَ الْقُرْآنَ» قَالَ: آللَّهُ سَمَّانِي لَكَ؟ قَالَ: «نَعَمْ» . قَالَ: وَقَدْ ذُكِرْتُ عِنْدَ رَبِّ الْعَالَمِينَ؟ قَالَ: «نَعَمْ» . فَذَرَفَتْ عَيْنَاهُ. وَفِي رِوَايَةٍ: ” إِنَّ اللَّهَ أَمَرَنِي أَنْ أَقْرَأَ عَلَيْكَ (لَمْ يَكُنِ الَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا) قَالَ:وَسَمَّانِي؟ قَالَ: «نَعَمْ» . فَبَكَى.
Anas reported God’s messenger as saying to Ubayy b. Kā’b, “God has commanded me to recite the Qur’ān to you.” He asked, “Did God mention me to you by name?” and when he was told that He had, he said, “Have I been mentioned in the presence of the Lord of the universe?” On being told that he had, tears fell from his eyes. In a version he said God had commanded him to recite to him “Those who disbelieve were not …” (Qur’ān, 98). He asked if He had mentioned him by name, and when he was told that He had, he wept.
What is Tajweed? (Tajweed Definition)
The word “tajweed” means to improve, make better. In terms of scholars means “giving every letter of the Qur’an its rights and dues of characteristics when we recite the Qur’an and observing the Tajweed Rules .
It is common knowledge that The Gracious Qur’an was revealed on the Prophet
Without dots on the letters and without Tashkeel signs ( َ ُ ِ). Although the true Arabic human reads the Qur’an naturally without any mistakes. Gradually, When the Arabs started mixing with non-Arabs from different countries and cultures as Islam spread, mistakes in Qur’an recitation started appearing, so the scholars had to put dots and Tashkeel signs and record Tajweed Rules in order to keep The Gracious Qur’an against mistakes and assist Muslims for reading the Qur’an.
Tajweed has an important role such as keeping the Qur’an against mistakes. It is a special model for Qur’an. It is difficult to find book has special way to read and recite.
Tajweed is the way that our Prophet Muhammad PBUH followed it in reciting the Quran.
